Chelsea finds herself lost in the mess of social media lies and swipe culture with the legacy of a bad father marked by many bad relationships looking for a comfortable way to be alone. She is always searching, turning over stones, scouring her past, and looking for clues. She collects remnants along the way--the important ones--and piece them together. Her practice as an artist is one of reassembly.

She is a feminist artist and activist. Much of her life is defined by absence. Her past is disjointed based on choices she has made, or that others have made on her behalf. There are only a few concrete moments to act as touchstones. These artifacts alone bear witness to her experiences: growing up without a father, raised by a single mother; getting sober just in time to lose my best friend to a drug overdose; getting engaged in time to break it off before “I do”. Her objects, photos and installations are a way to rebuild the story of her past and attempt to connect with other people who also have missing histories. Through her work she creates memories that can become collective.

Her materials, iphone photos, unfired porcelain, high fired porcelain, prints, textiles, found photos, found objects and mutable installations, are fragile and fleeting. Her gestures are her agency.
