About | Abigail Nelson’s goal in her art practice of over 35 years has been to paint an inner landscape that speaks to the emotion and spirituality of being present in each moment.
A trained painter, she now seeks to upend expectations of what constitutes a finished painting. Opening to a mental state between drawing and daydreaming, and by letting go of literal meaning, Nelson uses acrylic paints and graphite on gridded canvas to paint until the work is “complete,” accepting both painted surface and empty space as necessary to the work.
