About | Struggling between a need to define a certain subject matter or capture a fleeting impression can sometimes be difficult. Adrienne tries to create a piece of artwork that reflects her feelings about a subject matter in a non-verbal language. She achieves this with bold colors and expressive brush strokes suggesting the form rather than defining it. Realism turns to abstract shapes and her pieces teeter's back and forth between them. At other times the mark-making takes on priority. The artist states "I do not limit myself by how I achieve these marks, be it by brush, oils, oil bars, encaustics, or even the tip of a brush." The artist seeks to create rhythm, balance, and a movement in each of her paintings. She achieves this by pushing and pulling the values, painting over older images, deconstructing, then reconstruct and layering. To Adrienne, the medium is inconsequential as she applies this practice to all her artwork. She sees her process as meditative as she seeks to create a connection between the painting and herself and one that speaks to the artist and hopefully others.
