About | Bréa Corcoran is a painter based in Portland, Maine. They received their BFA in painting from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2022. They are primarily portrait artists, focused on creating intimate and colorful depictions of friends, family, and the self, as well as the environments around her. They draw inspiration from the colors and lights of nightlife, various animated media such as Adventure Time and Alice in Wonderland, as well as the thousands of snippets of the everyday mundane collected in their camera roll. 

No Answer emerged out of a desire to push their technical skill with a monochrome painting, combined with representing Corcoran’s inner world and self as a portrait in an exterior environment. As someone who primarily lives inside their head, it often feels like a physical space they are inhabiting. The resulting piece exists in a dream-like state between what is “real” and what isn’t, portraying the attempt to connect the two.
