About | Campbell McLean graduated with honors from MassArt in 2022, with both the George Nick Award and the Paine Scholarship. They are currently  working out of their  studio in the South End. McLean produced work for  Alpha Gallery, Abigail Ogilvy, and the Cambridge Art Association. They have been featured in Brookline Arts Center's “Artist Spotlight.”

It takes a lot of radical acceptance to reside in Boston comfortably. Being raised and continuing to live here has molded them into an unabashed individual, which is a big influence on their practice. As a local queer, McLean frequently finds themselves in a haze of love, degeneracy, and respect, which they admire greatly and document through their art. The drudgery of life is equally represented in their work — making their portfolio narrative, relatable, autobiographical, and fantastical.

Peanuts + Cracker-Jacks highlights queer interpersonal relationships. This piece takes notice of how each character embodies a different action in the smoking cycle, one lights, one inhales, and one exhales.
