About | Denise Oehl's relationship to environment is voyeuristic. This body of work is about a fleeting atmospheric moment. She uses a medium format film camera to capture the ephemeral quality of light. Her background in painting plays a role in the capture of light. Beginning with an observation, that is significant to me. There is allure in that glimpse: an inkling that there might be something sublime in the ordinary. They are moments that could have gone unnoticed. They are everywhere and nowhere. Each print I make in the darkroom is unique, using an alternative process (Ziatype) is an important part of her creative process. Each print is made by Oehl's hand and is unique.
